Natalie's Notes: It is only done on the main bed. Very easy! Mine was done on the standard machine (a Brother 910) in stockinette and eyelash yarn. You make a cuff that holds the end of the scarf. It doesn't have to be pulled through half way in a bow like way. You can think up any way you like. Add a pin if you like!
Measurements: The longest part is 34" the short hammer
legnth is about 18"
Across the hem width it's 7", and across the hammer width
(where it would strike if it were a hammer) it's 11" deep.
But, this was my measurements with my string like yarn.
Of course you could use that as a reference. Once you've seen
how it works, or made a paper version to try on you may like it
different dimensions. Or settle on whatever dimensions you get.
Tension: 10+ highest tension available on hard carriage
Cast on of your choice, 52 needles (L26-R26) Natalie's notes: I prefer e-wrap for a less noticible cast on. You will be steaming the heck out of this afterward to make it drapey, so rolling may not be an issue unless it is stubborn stuff.
RC000 carriage on left. Knit 40 rows. Hang hem from cast on edge on every other needle. Natalie's notes: I like my hem at least 2 inches, but you decide.
RC000 Knit to RC 135. E-wrap cast on (with yarn in carriage) needles R26 R80 (106 sts in all now). Needle R26 already has a st on it -- E-wrap it for added stability. Natalie's notes: for the next few rows pull needles all the way out to make sure e-wrapped needles knit off. Hang cast on comb if you like.
RC000 Knit to RC 100. bind off loosely. Weave in beginning and ending yarn ends. Block flat.
To wear, pull end "B" (the fat hammer like end) through hem on end "A" (the skinny end) and arrange to your liking. Natalie's notes: I prefer to pull the whole darn thing through the hem and leave it hanging like a scarf.
