Ribber covers are for covering the bed of your knitting when the ribber is off the machine. They fit into the groove that the carriage rides on and provide a nice fit to cover the bed and protect it. You can purchase a ribber cover from a knitting machine parts dealer. This also keeps dust and your work off the ribber while working on the main bed only. Used this way it won't have to fit properly. Use what is around the house for the same purpose. A piece of siding designed for a house can be used with the lip over the ribber needles and bed edge. Even more informal: a plastic sack draped over the edge of the ribber, a folded over newspaper, a magazine opened and draped over the ribber, or use a plastic/cloth table cloth.
