Or Barbie Apron
Or Barbie Poncho/wrap over her shoulders
or Barbie Backless Strap Top by Natalie Langkilde http://www.nataliesknitting.com
My 19 yr old collected My Little Ponies. Now my 3 yr old inherited them, and their back in style! Here's a little coat I designed to keep from having to put barbie clothes on the ponies.
done on a standard bed with 2 strands 2/24, no ribber necessary, adjustments can be made for bulky, midgauge, or patterning.
Of course take into account the age of your little pony dresser when you put on embellishments, but this had endless possabilities. Shown here with sew on beaded fringe. Use fringes on this page. Or crochet around (machine crochet edgings here , Charlene's site) or pick up neck st. and make a rib neckline or rolled one. Or, add fun fur edging. How about pretty mohair!? Show me your results! It's endless!
Pattern
T-5 Cast on 24 st. 12-0-12.
RC 000 Knit 15 rows stockinette or your choice of fair isle (adjust st and rows for other patterning)
Cast on beginning next 2 rows 12 st. Now there are 24-0-24 st.
Put carriage on Hold setting. Place half st on one side of 0 all the way out in hold position.
Cast off 2 st. on neck edge every other row until 4 st. remain.
RC000 Knit 15 rows. (or 20 if you want to use velcro or button to fasten the neck) cast off, or break yarn and gather st up on tail of yarn.
Take carriage off hold. Knit the other side of neck decreases reversing the shaping on the other side. That would be 2 st. on neck edge every other row until 4 remain. Knit on the 4 st. for 15 rows (or 20 for fastener)
Finishing: Sew neck ends together matching right sides. Or sew velcro or fastener to keep neck closed if you have added rows for this. Sew velcro or fastener to belly belt so it fits the horse when it's closed. Belly strap has approx. 1/2 inch overlap.
Sew, or knit on embelishments as desired. Let back of coat roll for saddle look, if desired. Now make enough for the other ponies to trade clothes, and enough to get lost, but still have more coats!!
