Easter
Egg String! by Natalie Langkilde http://www.nataliesknitting.com
directions for any kniting machine, any weight yarn or string Last updated March 12, '04
Materials: Plastic Easter eggs that snap together in the middle, scrap yarn or string that is a weight your machine can handle. I made mine tree color to blend into the tree.
Directions:
1. Set machine for stockinette, or plain knitting. e-wrap cast on 2 or 3 st. on needles 1, 2 (3 if preferred)
2. Knit 30 rows, or as long as your needle pusher ruler (adjust to your own preference). End COR.
3. Put all the way out needle #25 and e-wrap this needle. Knit across.
4. Pull out needle #25 all the way, then push manually back with needle butt to out of work position dropping off e-wrapped st. Grab that loop and hold it out to the side as you knit across once or twice more.
5. Continue to knit 30 rows, or as long as your needle pusher ruler (adjust to your own preference) End COR. Just as on #2 direction above. Repeat #3-#5.
Continue in this way until your Easter Egg String is long as you would like. Take the 2-3 st. off the machine with the cut tail of yarn when long enough. It will take a long legnth to go around a small tree or bush! Try making them in 5foot legnths for easier handling. Try winding them around something until you can get it outside so it does not tangle. It is easy to tangle once the eggs are on!
Hang Eggs:
Open egg and place the loop (eyelash fringe part) inside the egg half and close the egg over this loop so that it is attached to your string. Hang an egg on each loop. You can hang an egg on the beginning tail and end tail of yarn as well.
